DR Paul (Paul Hedley Roberts)
Dr Paul is an independent dance artist based in the Cygnet area Tasmania Australia.
He/him has performed on stages and streets around the world.
The National Theatre London, The Palacio de Bellas Artes Mexico City, The National Gallery Victoria, The Melbourne International Arts Festival (on three occasions) and Berlin Tanzfabrik, and Dock 11.
In 2010 DR P received a Masters Degree for research into contemporary dance and clown. With an Australian Post Graduate Award he completed a PhD to investigate links between embodiment, dance, clown and culture.
Born in Australia and currently based in rural Tasmania Dr Paul was artist in residence at the I E Festival Berlin and was co-founder of Ducks Berlin, a dance and live performance research group. In 2018-2019 he was recipient of a Melbourne University supported position in the co-working space at The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne.
2019-2020 Dr Paul was contracted by MONA Museum Hobart to do performance art spots in the Faro Restaurant and the MONA Museum.
2019-Dec 2023 Dr Paul was a core member of the Second Echo Ensemble of artists under the direction of Kelly Drummond Cawthon.
